About Us

The Alliance Française de Kilkenny is part of the worldwide Alliance Française network and is governed by the Fondation de l’Alliance Française in Paris. Founded in 1883 the Alliance Française has for its main objectives to ensure a continued teaching of French and to encourage and support those who have a love of the French language and of the cultures of the French speaking world. The Alliance Française is present in 138 countries with over 1,200 associations run by local committees welcoming over 400,00 students each year.

The Alliance Française Kilkenny was founded in 1948. There are 8 committee members, all of whom work on a voluntary basis. The Alliance does not have its own premises but rents space at the Club House Hotel, Kilkenny for its adult classes and other events. We are always looking for new members on our Committee elected each year at our AGM in November.

For this term January 2024 to May 2024 most of our classes will be in the Club House Hotel and also using the Zoom software online.
